Elder Brother Affirms Ese’s Actual Age As 14

The immediate elder brother to Miss Ese Oruru – who was abducted from her Bayelsa home and taken to Kano for a forced marriage to a certain Yinusa Yellow – Onome Oruru, has disclosed to The Punch in an exclusive chat that his younger sister’s actual age is 14.

I’m 16, My Sister Can’t Be 17’ – Ese’s Elder Brother Speaks: The Punch

Onome made the disclosure known when he was asked about his age.

He said: I am 16 years old. I was born on Nov 23, 1999.
Speaking on how he knew, he said: “Because my mother told me so and that is the date I celebrate my birthday every year. I just graduated from secondary school last year here in Bayelsa State, at the age of 16. All my peers are in my age bracket. I am certain of my age because I am old enough to know. Ese and I attend the same school. She was in JSS3 last year when she was taken away.”

He also brought to the attention of those who claimed that his sister is 17 years old saying:

“It is funny that these people are saying all sorts of things about my sister and her age. Everybody can see it, it is clear. I can’t be 16 years old, and my younger sister will be older than me. How can she be 17 years old, when my immediate elder sister, will clock 19 years old on March 7 this year? We all have about two years’ age difference in between. Ese clocked 14 on February 22.

Meanwhile report reaching us has it that Ese Oruru has arrived Abuja from Kano following a rescue operation carried out by the Nigerian police.
It was gathered that Ese, who was clad in a native attire and white hijab to cover her head, was ushered into the Nigeria Police Headquarters in Abuja at 12:55pm.
Upon her arrival, she was ushered into the office of the Force Spokesperson, Bisi Kolawole, accompanied by three men and two women; all dressed in Hausa native attires.

Reporters were prevented from taking photographs or conducting interviews with the teenage girl as the Force spokesperson explained that they were waiting for her parents, who are on their way from Yenagoa to arrive in Abuja before issuing a statement.
